Rosalie A. Claughsey

d. May 6, 2024

ROTTERDAM - Rosalie A. Claughsey, 84, passed away peacefully on Monday May 6, 2024. She was born on June 16, 1939 to the late Joseph and Rose Mogavero. After she graduated from Mont Pleasant HS, she first worked for Schenectady Transportation running bus tours, then for Schenectady Bureau Signal Control as a phone operator and secretary. She also worked at Fire Station 1 on Veeder Ave and at the Edgewood Restaurant. Rosalie was very active in and very dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, being a member and past president of the Women's Society, would do the baking and make cookies for Christmas and Easter, and was a chairperson of the Festa of Mount Carmel. Her warm presence touched the lives of many, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and compassion. Although she had no children of her own, she was known to many as Aunt Ro and loved being around young people. There was simply no one quite like her when it comes to storytelling. She effortlessly spun the most elaborate tales, keeping everyone on the edge of their seats with every intricate detail. Her energy could light up a room, and her eyes were the window into her beautiful soul, reflecting the depth of her thoughts and the warmth of her spirit. Her genuine care for others knew no bounds, and her laughter brought joy to all who were fortunate enough to know her. As a friend to everyone, Rosalie’s generosity and unwavering support created a sense of belonging wherever she went. Her presence illuminated every room, and her wisdom guided those who sought her counsel. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brother in law, Robert G. Adamec and nephew, Joshua Burg.

Survived by her beloved husband, John Claughsey; their dog, Wyatt; her sister, JoAnn Adamec; nieces, Lisa (Joe) Burg, Cathy (Jeff) Pardi, great-nieces and nephews, Karly, Victoria, Jake, Alyssa; sister in law, Mary Bender; nieces and nephews, Patricia Thompson, Adam Thompson, Heather Thompson, Wallace Ferguson, and William Ferguson.
