Richard Pigeon

June 28, 1932 — July 10, 2016

Rotterdam – Richard “Dick” Pigeon, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday July 10, 2016 after a courageous battle with spinal stenosis and kidney disease. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of Rocco and Julia Simone Pigeon. Richard graduated from Christian Brothers Academy and then went on to serve our country in Korea in the United States Army from 1952-1954. Following his military service Richard went to Hudson Valley Community College specializing in mechanical engineering and graduated in 1961. He retired from the General Electric Co. in 1989 after 34 years of service as an engineering specialist in the gas turbine department. Richard was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church. He is survived by his loving wife and caretaker, Maryann (Luciano), whom he married November 2, 1957. His beloved daughter; Lori (Pigeon) Isles of Rotterdam. His two grandsons; Ryan and Sean Isles who were the light of his life and who he adored and cherished. He is also survived by several cousins. The family would like to extend their special thanks to Dr. Mirza and also the nurses and staff of the Stockade wing at the Ellis Residential & Rehabilitation Center for their compassion and dedication to his care & needs. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 5-7 pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin 8:15 am Thursday at the funeral home followed by a 9 am Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church. Burial, with military honors, will follow at St. Cyril’s Cemetery.
