Leslie H."Les" Crounse, 78, of Guilderland passed peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 4, 2015. Les was the older of two sons born to the late Milton and Lillian DeCorsey Crounse. He graduated from Guilderland Center High School in 1956 and received an associate's degree in Horticulture from SUNY Cobleskill in 1958. He worked for many years at the former Westmere Pharmacy on Western Ave. and later for the Town of Guilderland as a Plant Operator for the Water Treatment Plant retiring in1999. Les also did small engine repair for many years and taught adult education classes at several local high schools. Les was a generous and caring person. He enjoyed time spent with his family, especially grandchildren and great grandchildren, gardening, traveling (particularly Maine), and Christmas. He also loved to play softball and was active in several church men's softball leagues over the years. Les is survived by his beloved wifeof 56 years, Helen Pelton Crounse,four children; Joanne (Robert) Bolen of Phoenix,Az., Robert(Sandra) Crounse of Guilderland, Brenda (David) Pritchard ofHershey, Pa, and James (Karen) Crounse of Guilderland, his brother; Randall (Shirley) Crounse of Altamont, eightgrandchildren; Charles (Jen), Matthew (Nichole), Ryan, Amanda (Eli), Rebeka, David, Lauren and Melinda and tengreat grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 6-8 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 5216 Western Tpk. (Rt. 20) in Guilderland. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday, 10 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at Prospect Hill Cemetery. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Richard, Karl, and Barbra for the help and care they gave to Les and his family during his illness. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Capital City Rescue Mission, 259 South Pearl St. Albany, NY, 12202.
