Gloria Dorothy (Gabriele) Massaroni entered into eternal rest on Sunday April 13, 2025 at the age of 94 years old. Born on June 16, 1930 and raised in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Teodoro and Francesca Gabriele. She attended Mont Pleasant High School and worked at House of Creation Coiffures as a hairdresser after graduating from the Royal Beauty School.
Gloria became a devoted homemaker and her greatest gift was the love and care she provided for her two children and her husband, and later, her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with extended family at her camp on Sacandaga Lake and hosting large family gatherings and holidays, sharing her outstanding Italian-American dishes, and spreading her laughter with her sweet sense of humor. Gloria loved her travels to Italy to visit family and took great pride in tending her backyard garden. She also made many wonderful memories with her four sisters, who her husband fondly nicknamed “The Nitwits”, as they frequently gathered to knit or crochet blankets for family and friends, as well as play cards every Wednesday afternoon. They also loved to take bus trips to the casinos to try their luck at the slots together.
Gloria was predeceased by her husband of 73 years, Dante “Dan” Massaroni; cherished daughter and son-in-law Cynthia and Anthony Catalano; beloved siblings Elena and John Domanico, Pierina and John Bond, Modestina and Sam Hall, Vincenzo and Fran Gabriele; Yolanda and Angelo Gizzi; brothers and sisters-in law Americo “Mid” and Grace Massaroni; Mario “Beansie” and Jeanne Massaroni; Mary and Elliot Gorman, and her nephew Steven Massaroni.
She is survived by her loving son Dan (Deborah) Massaroni and sister-in-law Norma (Richard) Silaika. She is also survived by her dear grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Tonya (Kyle) Rudolphsen, Adam (Christina) Catalano, Michelle Massaroni (Cody Mangano), Anthony Catalano (Catherine Renda), Genine Massaroni (Jonathan Andreadakis), Nicole (Kevin) Roohan, Gwen (Jeff) Paul, Lydia and Audrey Rudolphsen, Cameron and Brayden MacDormand, and Anthony “AJ” and Brennan Roohan, in addition to many nieces and nephews.
