Thomas Edward Provencher

Thomas Edward Provencher was born on February 19, 1960 and passed away on March 18, 2020 after a brief and difficult battle with cancer. Thom was loved fiercely and will be forever missed by his partner Tracey Murray, and children Shawn (Heather) Provencher, Amy (Phil) Provencher, Amanda (Dan) Reisman, and Genna (Joe) VanBlarcom. Thom found immense joy in his grandchildren Mackenzie and Logan Provencher, Anderson and Oliver Reisman, and Madison VanBlarcom. He feltprivilegedtogain an extended family withTracey’s children,Kole Murray, Aissa Terry, and Shiloh Murray, and grandchildren Jackson, Harper, and Henry Terry.Thom is also survived by his mother Jaqueline (Art) Palardy, his siblings,Kate (Greg) Provencher, Bill (Joan) Provencher, Beth (Phillippe) Provencher, Mike (Linda) Provencher, and John Provencher, and his five nephews, two nieces. Thom is predeceased by his father Robert Provencher and hiswife Christine Provencher. Thom was an entrepreneur who started several successful businesses in his lifetime. From a pet supply store, to a used car lot, to a construction company, the only thing his various ventures had in common was him; his hard work, his tenacity, and his unwavering confidence that he would be successful. He found particular pleasure in his most recent operation, Vencher Construction. As with most of his adventures he went in with little experience, a lot of ideas, and an abundance of ingenuity. And, as was usually the case,was able to build a successful operation. Thom found great joy in the simple pleasures in life. He loved nothing more than enjoying a cup of coffeewith Traceywhile gazing out on the river in front of thedream home they recently built. Or sipping a glass of wine by candlelight, withtheirfavorite playlist going in the background. Watching football on Sunday after taking theirdog,Gizmo, for a walk. A bonfire surrounded by those he loved. He was adventurous and liked to try new things, but always relied on old, familiar, comforts. If he really knew you well Thom would invite you to join on one of his most sacred rituals; The Hill (and good luck to you if he did). Thom would say his greatest accomplishment was his children. They would say one of their greatest privileges in life has been having him for a father. Through his example he showed them the value of hard work, the importance of treating people fairly, and how to charm just about anyone. And, of course, he taught them how to be ridiculously funny. He told them countless times how much he loved them and how proud he was of them. They will strive each day to keep making him proud. Thom was well known for his outrageous sense of humor. Family events were filled with smiles, laughter, and banter. He would want us to keep joking and making each other laugh. No one can hold an audience or tell a story like Thom, but we will try our best. If he taught us anything it's that there is no situation that cannot be improved by a well-timed sarcastic comment. Hisfamily iscommitted to carrying on this legacy. When Thom lost Christragically, he found comfort and truth in the following passage: "The glory of the world is transitory, and we cannotmeasure our lives by it, only by the decision we make to follow our own personal legend, to believe in our own utopias, and to fight for them. Each of us is the protagonist of our own life, and often it is the anonymous heroes who leave the most enduring mark" By this, or any other measure, Thom's mark will endure.
