Rotterdam - Sally A. Greenwood, 88, died at her home on Friday, October 1, 2021 with her beloved son, Bob, her daughter-in-law, Kathy, and her dedicated aide and friend, Candida, at her side.
Sally was the daughter of Carl Duesler and Martha W. Duesler, and lived in the Schenectady area all of her adult life. She graduated from Mont Pleasant High School and was married to Donald Robert “Bob” Parks, with whom she had four children, Kathleen, Robert, Colleen and Daniel, until his death in 1971.
Sally was a talented seamstress who worked alongside Bob in his upholstery business and later worked for her friend, Larry Pardi, in his upholstery business as well.
Sally was married to Phillip C. Greenwood, Jr., the love of her life, for 47 years until his death in November, 2018. She and Phil shared a love of camping, boating, fishing, and golf, and they owned and operated Sycamore Greens Golf Course in Princetown until their retirement.
Sally loved cooking and delighted in making delicious dinners for Phil and her family members for special occasions and holidays. She loved gardening and grew beautiful begonias and other flowers on her backyard deck, as well as wonderful, tasty tomatoes, zucchinis and other vegetables in her garden. Frequently during the spring and summer, and always on her birthday, she enjoyed a vase of cut flowers on her dining room table.
Sally is survived by three of her children, Robert (Kathy), Colleen and Daniel, but was unfortunately recently predeceased by her daughter, Kathleen. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ericka, Alissa, Amanda, Cassandra, Nicholas, Kyle, Abigail and Justin, and nine great-grandchildren. She was preparing to welcome the birth of her tenth great-granddaughter, due to her granddaughter Abby, very soon.
A private family service will be held at DeMarco Stone Funeral Home Inc., 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, followed by a private funeral service at Schenectady Memorial Park on Giffords Church Road, Schenectady, NY.
The family respectfully requests that donations be made in Sally’s memory to the Schenectady City Mission in lieu of flowers.
