Robert Lee Pitt

Robert Lee Pitt, 58 of Rotterdam, passed away suddenly on Friday, February 5, 2016. Born in Schenectady, Robert was the son of the late Alton J. and Carmeta Jones Pitt. He graduated from Schalmont High School in 1975 and enlisted in the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged in 1983.Robert served onboard the USS Samuel Eliot Morison under the command of Capt.LarryJ.Andrews. A self employed handyman, Robert touched many people with his help roofing, plumbing , carpentry and other work they needed help with. He was devoted to his country, family and friends. In addition to his parents, Robert was predeceased by two brothers; Alton J. Pitt Jr and Gerald Pitt. He is survived by his beloved companion, Laura Baldwin of Schenectady, his brothers and sisters; Thomas (Jane) Pitt of DeRuyter, NY, Loretta (Al) Morris of Schenectady, Lucinda Lawyer of Rotterdam, Terry Pitt of Schenectady, Dean (Barbara) Pitt of Glenville, and Douglas (Liz) Pitt of Rotterdam, two nephews; Joseph and Richard as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. A calling hour will be held on Thursday from 10- 11 am at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Funeral services will begin at 11 am at the funeral home. Burial, with military honors, will be at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga national Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY at 2 pm.
