Marian (Chesbro) Nitsky

August 7, 1938 — January 15, 2018

Guilderland Center – Marian R. Nitsky, 79, passed away Monday January 15, 2018 at the St. Peter’s Hospice Inn. Born in Cambridge, NY, she was the daughter of Minor Earl Chesbro and Jennie (Hill) Chesbro. A graduate of the Albany Business College, Marian was a stay at home mom and a babysitter for several teachers at Guilderland High School being affectionately known as “Momrian” until 1983. She then was a court clerk for the Town of Guilderland for 17 years retiring in 2000. A longtime and faithful member of Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church, she was involved in many ministries including the Traveling Stone program and was a founder of the “Special Friends” Sunday school program for disabled children. She also loved to spend her time keeping in touch with family and friends by sending them letters and cards. Marian enjoyed spending time daily solving the word jumble in the TU, crafts, crocheting, taking photos and gardening. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, John Nitsky, who she met through the Protestant Young Adults group in 1961. Her three children; Brian Nitsky of Guilderland, Cindy (Robin) Palfrey of Malden, MA and Elizabeth (Mark) Egan of Guilderland. Three grandchildren; Declan, Liam and Gavin. Along with her parents she was predeceased by her brothers, Jack and Bill Chesbro. Calling hours will be held Friday from 4-7 pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 5216 Western Turnpike (just west of Carman Rd.) Guilderland. Funeral services will be held 11 am Saturday at Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church, 2291 Western Ave., Guilderland, NY 12084. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be sent to Living Resources 300 Washington Ave., Ext., Albany, NY 12203.
