Lillian Marie (Podgurski) Tierney

Lillian Marie Tierney, 83, of Rotterdam died on Friday, Dec. 25, 2015 at Ellis Hospital. Born in Schenectady, Lillian was the daughter of the late Henry and Pauline Podgurski and was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. Lillian enjoyed working at The Difference Is in Schenectady, and later worked at Uniform Specialist as a seamstress/Manager and retired in 1990. Lillian so loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and her many friends,playing card games like Left Right Center, trips with her family and friends, visiting her granddaughters, Courtney and Jenna on Long Island and attending her grandsonsLuke and Dustin's baseball and basketball games where she was well known as the Lollipop Lady. Lillian was also a big fan of EngelbertHumperdinck. He was her favorite singer and loved going to see him in concert. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish and a former member of Home Bureau. In addition to her parents, Lillian was also predeceased by her brothers;Henry Podgurskiand Donald Podgurski. She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Alfred E. Tierney, three children; Mark D. Tierney of Schenectady, Gayle R. Small of Southbury CT., and Lynn (Darwyn Jr.) Quay of Schenectady, four grandchildren; Luke Quay, Dustin Quay, Courtney (Damian) Small McGuigan and Jenna Small and her great granddaughter, Marlowe McGuigan. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, from 6-8 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Wednesday, 8:45 am, followed at 9:30 by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church. Burial will be at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna.
