Rotterdam - Gloria Dennis (Mandel) 94, of Rotterdam passed away peacefully at Ellis Hospital on June 16, 2021 surrounded by her family. Gloria was a strong, caring, outgoing woman, loved by all who knew her.
Gloria was born on May 31, 1927 in Bronx, NY and grew up in Brooklyn. Gloria met her beloved husband Dillon "Curly" Dennis in Times Square while he was on military leave with the Coast Guard during WWII. The two were married on January 19, 1947; a loving marriage that lasted 66 years until his passing in 2013.
Gloria was an office manager for J.M. Fields and Dr. William Wells' offices in Schenectady for many years. She held these positions while raising three sons with Curly in the town of Rotterdam. She was a member of St. George Episcopal Church. Gloria loved shopping, camping, a variety of games, traveling, Florida winters, and most of all, spending time with her large, loving, family. She especially valued all the activities and events she had with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Gloria is survived by her sons Daniel R. (Ellen) Dennis of Rotterdam, Donald E. (Christine) Dennis of East Berne, and David R. (Karen) Dennis of Rotterdam Junction.
Gloria, known as "Nana," also is survived by her grandchildren; Daniel R. (Laurie) Dennis Jr. of Niskayuna NY, Kelly (Justin) Doolittle of Binghamton NY, Dr. Kathleen (Corey) Vest of Naperville Illinois, Jennifer (David) Kulczyckyj of Long Valley NJ, Crystal (Michael) Pettinato of Little Silver NJ, Amanda (Joseph) Iachetta of Hadley NY, Andrew (Jennifer) Dennis of Rotterdam NY, and Autumn (Jessy) Dennis of Guilderland NY.
Also surviving are 10 great grandchildren; Kyle Vest, Connor Vest, Colton Vest, Jocelyn Kulczyckyj, Riley Doolittle, Tyler Doolittle, Lucy Pettinato, Dillon Pettinato, Declan Dennis, and Delaney Dennis. She was expecting her 11th great grandchild Joseph Iachetta Jr. in July.
Gloria is also survived by her sister, Judith Sansone of Loudonville NY, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
In accordance with Gloria's wishes, all services are private.
