Elaine J (Dean) Artese

Rotterdam Junction – Elaine J. Artese, 77, passed away Wednesday December 9, 2020. Born in the Albany she was the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Mattioli Dean. Elaine worked for Metropolitan Life in New York City before moving to RotterdamJunction in 1965 to raise her family.Affectionatelyknown as the “town mom” her life centered around her family and friends. Between school activities with her kids including the school PTO, WoestinaLittleLeague, theBoy Scouts and the Girl Scoutsto name a few, her family coming together forSunday dinnerand seeing her Junction friends meant everything to her. Elaine also loved to travel, cooking and reading a book with a cup of coffee by her side. Her beloved husband of 56 years, Joseph Artese, passed away October 8, 2019. She is survived by her three children; James Artese of Rotterdam Junction, Lisa (John) Sweeney of Scotia and Michael (Christina) Artese of Rotterdam Junction. Her four grandchildren; Katelyn & Kristen Roddy, Michael &MatthewArtese. Her brother; Edward Dean of Massachusetts Her sister; Nancy Rivenburgh (Paul) of Schenectady. Her niece; Erica Dean of Maryland She also leaves behind her beloved dog companions, Coco & Charlie. The family extends their sincere thanks to the staff at Ellis ICU and Rotterdam Junction Fire Department and Rotterdam EMS. Funeral services will begin8:30 am Monday at the funeral home followed by a 9:30 amMass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret of Cortona Church1228 Main St., Rotterdam Junction. Burial will follow at St. Cyril’s Cemetery, Rotterdam. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Elaine’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
