Rotterdam – Donald R. VanWoeart, 93, died on Friday March 2, 2018 at Glendale Nursing Home. Born in Schenectady on February 2, 1925 he was the son of the late Ralph and Ina Plue VanWoeart. A graduate of Draper High School he then went on to serve our country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Following the service he spent his career as a steam fitter – plumber for the General Electric Co. where he was a member of the ¼ century club. Don coached CYO basketball and Rotterdam Little League and his greatest joy was to go to Mark’s Bar & Grill for a beer. He was also a member of the Rotterdam Elks #2157, VFW Post 1895, Schenectady Veteran of WWII, Inc. and was an avid Yankees fan. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Martha Severino VanWoeart, who he married on September 14, 1947. His daughter; Donna Larsen (Paul). His son; Mark VanWoeart (Cheryl Angers). His grandchildren; Lisa Relation (Rick), Kimberly DeLucia (Vince), Mark VanWoeart (Kate), Erica Russo (Dominick), Marissa VanWoeart and Matthew VanWoeart. His great grandchildren; Vincent, Nicholas, Gabriella and Joseph DeLucia and Mark Donald VanWoeart Jr. He is also survived by several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. The family extends a special thank you to Glendale Nursing Home Pine Plains unit for their excellent care given to Don. Calling hours are Tuesday from 5-7 pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Funeral will begin Wednesday at 8:45 am at the funeral home with Mass following at Our Lady Queen of Peace, Princetown Rd. at 9:30 am.
