Schenectady — Denise Marcel (Dean) Larrabee passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 25, 2020, ending her courageous battle with cancer at the age of 69. She was born on September 7, 1950 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

An Army brat, she spent a good portion of her childhood on domestic and international military bases in New Jersey, Turkey and Germany. She graduated from Linton High School in 1969 and worked throughout her career in retail at Filene’s Basement and, most recently, Price Chopper. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church.

Denise was an animal lover through and through. She especially loved cats, owning several throughout her life, and she adored walking her friends’ dogs. Denise enjoyed gardening, reading, watching whodunit shows on television and all things Disney. She will be dearly missed by those who loved her.

Denise is preceded in death by her parents, Martha St. Dennis Dean, and Robert and Mary Dean; her sister and brother in-law, Martha and Paul Lotano; and her brother in-law Salvatore Page.

Surviving Denise are her beloved son, Justin Larrabee of Schenectady; sister, Patricia Page of Scotia; sister, Judi Sloan of Holland, Michigan; sister, Eva Folkert (Cal) of Holland, Michigan; brother, Robert Dean of Silver Spring, Maryland; niece, Lauren Dean (Tom) of Scotia; niece, Davia Lotano of Schenectady; nephew, Michael Sloan of Grove, Oklahoma; and nephews, Peter Folkert and Matthew Folkert of Holland, Michigan.

Services will be held at a later date with the removal of travel restrictions. Denise will be laid to rest at St Joseph Cemetery, 100 Kings Road, Schenectady NY.
