Rotterdam- Darrell Russell, 73, suddenly, into the Arms of Our Lord, on Saturday, November 8, 2014. Darrell was born in Malone, N.Y. the son of the late Carl and Dorothy Russell.He was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. Darrell proudly served in the United States Navy and was on active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After leaving the Navy, Darrell worked most of his life in the telecommunications industry, starting as a technician for Western Electric Corp. and retiring in 2007,after many years as a project coordinator for Adirondack Cabling Inc. Darrell was an avid outdoorsmanand sportsman who enjoyed,camping, fishing and being in the fresh air. What Darrell enjoyed most was being home, especially around the Holidays, being surrounded by family and friends and the company of his faithful dog Coco sitting by his side. Darrell was a long time member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1895 in Rotterdam. Darrell was the loving husband of 21 years to Marjorie (Roberts) Russell; beloved father of Jerilyn Denofio, (Ralph) of Mariaville and Daren Russell of Rotterdam;lovinggrandfather of Darren Denofio of Scotia and Christopher Denofio of Mariaville; beloved brother of Marva Mango (Clifford) of Charlton. He is also survived by his step son Danny Langlois (Cheryl) of Schenectady; granddaughter Amy Langlois of Wilton, as well as many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, November 11 from 4 to 7pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam, N.Y. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home at 11:00am Wednesday to pay final respects to Darrell and if desired, to travel in procession to Evergreen Memorial Park, Schenectady where Darrell will be buried with military honors.
