Niskayuna - Zachary Stum, 34, passed away suddenly on Sunday February 9, 2014 at Ellis Hospital. Born in Harrisburg, PA on January 23, 1980, Zach was raised in Mechanicsburg, PA. He was a member of Cumberland Valley High School Class of 1998. Zach received his Bachelor of Science degree from Penn State University and his Masters degree from Cornell University both in Physics. He was currently a PhD candidate in electrical engineering at RPI. For the past eight years Zach was employed at the GE Global Research Center in Niskayuna. Zach's faith and family were the most important parts of his life. He was a devoted and loving husband and father, and active member of Niskayuna Wesleyan Church and a well respected engineer at GE Global Research. Zach is survived by his wife, Diane Knowlton Stum, whom he married on December 18, 2004. His three daughters; Carolyn (8), Jocelyn (4) and his unborn daughter. His parents; Dennis and Deborah (Grice) Stum of Mechanicsburg, PA. His brother; Benjamin (his wife Susan) Stum of Palmyra, PA. His grandparents; Harold and Mabel Stum of Carlisle, PA, and Fredrick and Anna Grice of Mt. Joy, PA. Calling hours, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be held Friday from 4-7 pm at Niskayuna Wesleyan Church, 935 Balltown Rd., Niskayuna. A memorial service will be held 10 am Saturday at the Church.
