Yolanda Disanto

Altamont-Yolanda DiSanto, 93, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 12, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Sambucetto in Bomba, Abruzzo, Italy to the late Mario and Antoinette DiSanto. She married Vincent DiSanto on October 1, 1953. They were married for 44 years. Yolanda flew to America in August of 1954 on one of the very first flights from Italy. She settled in Yonkers, NY before fulfilling her American dream of becoming a mother and fulltime seamstress before retiring to watch her grandchildren. She lived a full and happy life surrounded by her family, building them a strong loving foundation and instilling strong family values. Yolanda was a member of St. Madeleine Sophie Church and the Rosary Committee. She loved hosting large Sunday dinners and baking for special occasions. She enjoyed watching movies and having popcorn with her family, which became a weekly tradition. She will be missed by all those who knew her. She is survived by her daughter, Emilia (Michael) Giorgio, her grandchildren; Briana (Steve) Haluska, Vincent DelBene, Gabrielle DelBene (Nick Rossman), and Justin Giorgio, many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends. She is predeceased by her parents, Mario and Antoinette, her mother-in-law, Emilia Gentile, her father-in-law, Donato DiSanto, her sisters; Maria DiSanto, Giacomina DiSanto, Nicoletta DiSanto, and Carmela DiSanto, and her close friend Virginia Giorgio. A calling hour will be held on Wednesday, May 18 from 10:30am-11:30am at St. Madeleine Sophie Church, 3500 Carmen Rd. Schenectady, NY 12303. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 12pm. Entombment will follow at St. Cyril’s Cemetery in Rotterdam. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Madeleine Sophie Church, 3500 Carmen Rd. Schenectady, NY 12303, or to Community Hospice, 310 South Manning Blvd. Albany, NY 12208.
