Guilderland- Worthy C. Cox Jr.,79 , into the Arms of Our Lord, on Monday, September 15, 2014. Worthy was born in Albany, the son of the late Worthy and Clara (Bischoff) Cox. His early work history included employment with: Wells Service Station, Trans World Airlines and Guilderland Radio & T.V. He became a New York State Trooper in 1962, serving in Troops B, G, and Division Headquarters and retiring as a Technical Sergeant in 1991. Active in his community,Worthy was a member of: Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church, Guilderland Elks Lodge 2480 and a Life Member of the Guilderland Fire Dept. with over 64 years of service. He was the beloved husband of 54 years to Joan L. Cox who died in 2008; beloved father of Cynthia Schultz (William DeBarthe), Curtis Cox (Cathleen); beloved brother of Doris Selig, John Selig and the late William Selig; loving grandfather of Christopher and Chad Cox. Worthy is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Monday, September 22from 4 to 7 pm at Guilderland's DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 5216 Western Turnpike (Route 20 just West of Carman Rd.). All are invited to a memorial service to be held Tuesday, 11 am at the Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church, Guilderland. Worthy will be buried in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Guilderland.
