William E Stevens

William “Bill” Stevens passed into eternal life on August 13, 2020 after a prolonged and courageous battle against cancer. He was born in Batavia on February 22, 1955. Bill is survived by three brothers John, Jim, and Tim. Bill is also survived by two sons Tom (Jamie) and Andrew and one daughter, Ashley (Paul). Bill also had seven grandchildren. He was particularly close with Ashley and her three children, speaking to her on a weekly basis. After leaving High School, Bill enlisted in the Army to serve his country during the Vietnam era. He was particularly proud of his service in the Army. He took on a variety of jobs thereafter from Florida where he was a landscaper to Schenectady where he worked in retail up until the onset of cancer. It was during his time in Florida when he met Tracy Ridge in 2003. The two remained close friends until the time of his death. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 1 to 2 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Funeral services will begin at 2 pm at the funeral home. William will be laid to rest at Vale Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bill’s memory can be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
