William Bill Reimann

William “Bill” Herman Reimann, 73, of Princetown passed away after a long illness on November 14, 2017. Bill was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 15, 1944 to William Herman Gustav and Anna Julia (Behnke) Reimann. He was raised in Princetown with sister, Jeannette. He described himself as shy and not very talkative as a child; which he clearly made up for later in life. Bill graduated from Schalmont High School and maintained close friendships with his classmates throughout his life, often helping to plan reunions for the class of ‘62. He achieved a degree in Economics from the University of North Dakota and a Law degree from John Marshall Law School in Atlanta. He worked in many trades during his career and was most proud of his leadership and advocacy skills and humanitarian efforts. Bill was known for his patriotism. He served his country in the Marine Corps, and the Army and Air National Guard Reserves. During his time in the reserves he coordinated a humanitarian project in Panama to help local school children and was proud of his ability, as a drill sergeant and training manager, to effectively lead others and help others to excel. He retired from service after a final active duty assignment as a historian, trainer, and project manager with the Air Force from 2001-2003. Bill had a great interest in the well being of his country and all who knew him will surely miss his free trade lectures. Bill was a hard worker and a good man. He leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Jane Reimann. Bill and Jane met in Lake George, NY where he was a lifeguard and once swam 13 miles from Bolton Landing to Lake George Village. He always remembered Jane and they reconnected and were married in 1972. Together they raised six children, two sons, Karl and Joseph (Felix Deat) Reimann, and four daughters, Kristin (Fuller) Black, Shannon Arthur, Marie (Carl) Rivera, and Genevieve Mulyca. He was proud of and loved by his grandchildren, Tyler, Nana, Olivia, Davina, Lindsey, and Dasha. He is also survived by his sister Jeannette Waterman and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Bill enjoyed traveling with Jane. They enjoyed cruising, touring historical sites, and dining on the local cuisine of wherever they ventured. He fulfilled a long time dream to buy back his boyhood farm in 2005 and enjoyed spending time working on the property, especially driving his tractor and taking walks in the woods with his dog Barney. He enjoyed the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season as a time to give thanks and enjoy festivities with family. Bill believed what matters most is to live with honor, courage, and love. He has gone before us, but believed life was meant to live and would want all who knew and loved him to live each day to the fullest. While he will be greatly missed, the Spirit of 1776 will live on in the memories of all who were fortunate enough to cross his path. Family and friends are invited to call at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home Inc 1605 Helderberg Ave Rotterdam on Saturday November 18, 2017 from 10 am to 12 pm. immediately following a funeral service will begin at 12 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bill’s memory should be made to any Veteran’s organization of choice. He had a special place in his heart for Gold Star Mothers and Wounded Warriors.
