William David “Bill” Harwood, age 71, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 4th, 2026, at his home. Bill was born on December 9th, 1954, in Schenectady, NY to the late William F. and Doris M. (Foti) Harwood.
After graduating from Mohonasen High School in 1972, Bill went on to work in the family business, Harwood’s Dairy, with his parents. In 1985, he started his own limo service, Town Car Motor Coash and Escort. Through the years, he had various other limo services, the last one being Capital Land Car Service. He also drove for Premiere Transportation Albany, for 14 years. Most recently, he worked for McGovern Volvo Cars Albany as a Courtesy Car Driver, for 2 years. In his free time, Bill loved to cook, listen to music by Pink Floyd, and spend time with his friends and his beloved Dogs.
Bill is survived by his loving siblings, Charles William (Shirley) Harwood and their children, Lisa, Holly and Tammy and their families; his sister, Deborah Wayne and her children, Jeffery and Colton Becker and their families; his cousins, Lori and Larry Zyra and their family, Cathy Wright, Karen Murphy and family; his dear Aunt Mimi Murphy, and extended family; and his many dear friends.
In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his grandparents, aunts and uncles, and his cousin, Donn Wright.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Visitation held on Thursday, May 21st, 2026, from 10-11 AM, at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Schenectady, NY.
A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 11 AM, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bill’s name to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Avenue, Glenville, NY 12302.
