William David Florance

William D. Florance 72, passed away late Monday evening on October 12, 2026.

Bill, as he was known all of his life, was born to Robert L. and Margaret B. (Gleim) Florance. He was predeceased by his sister Susan (Robert) Walters.

He is survived by his wife and partner of 17 years, Louise; a son, Christopher (Lori) Staples; and two grandchildren, Peyton and Brantly. He is survived by two nieces, Laura (Josh) Stephenson and their family, along with Heather Walters. He is also survived by a brother Robert (Susan) Florance of South Carolina.

Many know Bill as quiet, unassuming, kind, and generous. He always thought of others before he thought of himself. He had a sharp and dry wit that everyone enjoyed. Most of all he was a loving and dedicated husband and son. He always made sure his parents were at every holiday and that they were taken care of in their later years.

Bill had a 24-year naval career. He was a nuclear engineer and designed and maintained propulsion systems for aircraft carriers and submarines. He traveled all over the world, not to mention, he was a first-class Eagle scout and in the national honor society.

He was employed with Comcast Business as a brand compliance support analyst. It is at this time I would like to thank his Comcast family for the support during Bill’s illness, especially Jason, Mufasa, Tap and Brandon.

Another note of thanks to all of the family and friends that reached out, helped and provided care throughout this difficult time.

Services will be held at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home on 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Schenectady, NY on Monday October 19, 2026 at 12pm. Relatives and friends are invited from 10am to 12pm for visitation.
