William Dennis Dodge

Rotterdam - William Dennis Dodge, 63, of Draper Ave., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 29, 2015. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of John and Mary DeSorbo Dodge. William served our country in the United States Air Force from 1972-1982. He then served in the Air Force Reserves for 10 years. Following his military service Bill worked to provide for his family most times working 2 jobs at a time. His family said the well never went dry. His employers included; Pleasant Valley Pkg. Co., General Electric Co., Deli Manager at Price Chopper in Albany and Rotterdam and Manager at Cumberland Farms; among others. Bill will be remembered for his love of bowling, participating in a band as a musician and singer; most recently he was working on the sound system and being a lighting technician, his love of sports that included wrestling, New York Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys. Above all is his love for his children & grandchildren. He is survived by his 3 children; Jody Dodge-Borst and Karyn Dodge (Joseph Bradley) both of Rotterdam and Diana Sponcy of Schenectady. His 8 grandchildren; Joseph, Robert and Jesse Dodge, Ryan Dodge-Borst and Lexi-Dodge Borst, Bethany "sidekick" LaBrake, Travis and Tyrese Dodge. His 1 great grandchild due in November. His loving former wife; Sharon Dodge-Clifford, nee: (Nelson-Roberts). He is also survived by his best friend; John Privetera and his friend, Billy-Jo Ransom. His forever family friends, Bruno & Lucy Sacchetti and Charlie Huether. Along with his parents he was predeceased by his brother, John Edward Dodge, Jr. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 3-5 p.m. at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Saratoga National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
