William John Brandenburg

William John Brandenburg, 75, of Rotterdam, New York, passed away peacefully at his residence on March 6, 2025. Born on March 27, 1949, in Niskayuna, New York, William was the beloved son of the late William and Elizabeth Brandenburg. He grew up in Schenectady and graduated from Draper High School in 1967. William dedicated his career to General Electric, where he worked as a machinist. He was known for his strong work ethic, his quick wit, and his ability to bring laughter to those around him. On July 28, 1984, he married the love of his life, Joyce Brandenburg, with whom he shared many wonderful years. William was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, always cherishing time with his family. His grandchildren especially brought him great joy, and he took pride in being a loving and supportive presence in their lives. An avid outdoorsman, William found peace in fishing and hunting. He had a passion for horse racing and was a dedicated fan of the New York Giants and the Yankees, rarely missing a game. Some of his happiest moments were spent at his camp on the Great Sacandaga Lake, where he enjoyed the beauty of nature and the company of family and friends. William will be deeply missed by his wife, Joyce, along with all who had the privilege of knowing him. A service to honor his life will be held at DeMarco-Stone funeral home on March 14th, 2025 from 4pm-7pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in William’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
