Guilderland, NY. Wilfred R. Hesler, 101, died peacefully at his home on February 16, 2025. He was born in Schenectady, the youngest of 10 children of the late John and Barbara (Grussenmeyer) Hesler. He was a WWII Navy veteran. After earning his Mechanical Engineering Degree from the University of Detroit, Wilfred worked first at GE Knolls Atomic Power Labs and then for many years at the Watervliet Arsenal. He was a long-time communicate of St. Madeleine Sophie Church in Guilderland, NY. Wilfred was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Virginia (O’Neill) Hesler. He is survived by his son, John and Sandie Hesler of San Jose, Calif; his daughter Kathleen and Jim Kercher of Avon, Colo.; his son Edward and Melissa of Leonardo, NJ.; his son James Hesler of Ausable Forks, NY.; and his daughter Janice Hesler, of Ausable Forks, NY. Seven grandchildren, Kristen, Katie, Andrea, Danielle, Nicholas, Shannon and Emily; two great grandchildren, River and Addison; 20 nieces and nephews and an adopted granddaughter, Kerrisa Manheimer. Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025 from 4-7pm at the Demarco Stone Funeral Home, 5216 Western Turnpike, Guilderland, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Madeleine Sophie Church on Saturday February 22, 2025 at 10am. Burial to follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
