Schenectady- Wendall F. Smith III, 63, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 21, 2022. Born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, he was the son of Wendall F. Smith Jr. (Ida Pinkerton) and the late Tommie Jean Curl Smith. He was married to the love of his life, Kim Santor Smith. He served as a PFC in the United States Marine Corps in the Fox Battery 210. He ran for County Legislature in 1990 and 1993, served on the City of Schenectady Zoning Board of Appeals, was the Chairman of the 13th Ward Republican Party, the owner of Reflection Beauty and Tanning Salon and Stomens Bakery, worked for the Schenectady County Highway Department for over 15 years, and also drove tractor trailer for JB Hunt. Survived by his father Wendall F. Smith Jr. (Ida Pinkerton), his wife Kim, his children Wendall 4th, and Michela, his step daughter Nicole, his grandchildren that he loved and cherished; Luna, Natalie, Anthony, and Marissa, his siblings; Clara (Dave) Gladd, Debra (Richard) Cruse, his brother-in-law Willam McGrouty, his cherished Godson Matthew Harvey, his special cousins; Randy and Dicky, his lifelong best friend Denis (Roseann) Carringi, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Predeceased by his mother Tommie Jean Curl Smith and his sister Sharon Smith McGrouty. Calling hours will be held on Monday, March 28, 2022 from 9am to 11am at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Schenectady, NY. A funeral service will take place at 11:15am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Pasquale, the 9A nursing staff, Dr. Hampton, the 5th floor nursing staff, nurse Jackie on the 8th floor, and the caregivers through Hospice; Bill, Chris, Janet, and Barbara, all for their compassion in the care they provided. Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
