Walter F Marriner

Guilderland -Walter F. Marriner Sr, 76, of Guilderland, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, March4, 2022 at Albany Medical Center Hospital. Born in Troy, NY, Walter was the son of the late Orville and Frances Marriner. Following his graduation from Troy High School, Walter joined the US Marine Corps and served honorably from 1963 to 1967. In 1969 he established Guilderland Towing and operated the business for over 50 years. Walter, also known as “The Commander”, “Gus” or Wally”, enjoyed collecting cars, going to classic car shows and riding his Harley’s. In addition to his parents, Walter was also predeceased by his brother Dave Marriner. He is survived by his son, Walter F. Marriner Jr (Nicole) of Altamont, his former wife Lynda Marriner of Averill Park, three grandchildren, Jared, Brian and David Marriner and his beloved cats, Billy the Kid and Bullet. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 5-8 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 5216 Western Tpk. (Rt 20) in Guilderland. Funeral services will be held on Monday, 10 am at the funeral home. Walter will be buried at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery with Military Honors.
