Wallace Disco

Rotterdam - Wallace J. "Wally" Disco, 83, of Rotterdam, passed away on Sunday July 12, 2015 at Ellis Hospital. Born in Schenectady, Wally graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and then was drafted into the United States Army serving in Korea where he received a Purple Heart. Wally was a letter carrier for the US Postal Service in Schenectady for 31 years before retiring. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Lt. Vibert O. Fryer Chapter 88, Veterans of Foreign Wars Hilderbrandt Davis Post 1895, Schenectady American Legion Post 1485 and the Schenectady Veterans-World War (Union St.). Wally also was a member of the Rotterdam Elks #2157 and a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. He is survived by his wife, Laura Romano Disco. His three children; David (Lisa) Disco, Joseph (Susan) Disco and Susan (James) Tornabene. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren; Joseph Jr., Joshua, Jacob, Emily, James Jr., Nicholas and Taylor. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 9-10:15 a.m. at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam, followed by an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church Pleasant St., Schenectady. Burial, with military honors, will follow at St. Cyril's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Wally's memory to Our Lady of Mt.
