Virginia F. Scalice

August 18, 1943 — May 7, 2024

Virginia Frances Scalice, lovingly known as Ginny, Ginna, Mom, and Nana, passed away on May 7, 2024, at the age of 80, peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on August 18, 1943, in New Rochelle, NY, and was a beloved daughter of Frederick and Virginia Villani. Virginia resided in Carmel and Scotia, NY, for most of her life.

Virginia was a woman of many talents and professions. She worked as a meat wrapper at the family butcher shop, where she displayed her dedication and commitment. She also excelled as a caterer, retail worker, and caregiver, touching the lives of those she served with compassion and warmth.

In her free time, Virginia enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, using her culinary skills to create delicious meals that brought joy to everyone around her. She had a special fondness for the music of Frank Sinatra.

Virginia had a love for the color blue, butterflies, angels, and her greatest treasures, her grandchildren. She found great joy in spending time with her nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, creating cherished memories that will forever be treasured.

Virginia, or Nana as her grandchildren fondly called her, had a giving and caring nature that extended beyond her immediate family. She was an active member of Liberty Church, where she followed Jesus. Together with her husband Jack, she proudly hosted Bible studies in her home for twenty years.

Virginia is survived by her loving husband of sixty years, Jack Scalice, and their four children, Jeanne (Michael Pigliavento), Jack, Jacqueline, and John Scalice. And preceded by her siblings Dominick, Angelo, Rosalie and Vinny , survived by Gabe and Catherine Villani.

In honor of Virginia's giving spirit, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her memory to Hospice (communityhospice.org) and Liberty Church (lcny.us): Masoyi Home Based Care, in lieu of flowers. Virginia's legacy of love will continue to inspire all who knew her, and her vibrant presence will be deeply missed. She will forever be remembered for her kindness, her delicious meals, and her unwavering love for her family.
