Virginia "Gina" Mogavero

Niskayuna- Virginia “Gina” Mogavero, 87, passed on August 5, 2021. Born in Readsboro, Vermont on February 12, 1934, a daughter of the late Carlo and Mary Moruzzi. Gina was a graduate of Drury High School, North Adams, MA. For several years she was employed by New England Telephone in North Adams and the former New York Telephone in Schenectady. Gina spent a lot of her time in the kitchen where she enjoyed creating delicious dinners and bakery items for many friends and family. She was an avid golfer and loved to “hit them way out there.” Gina was a communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Church. She had been a literacy volunteer for many years tutoring and helping those for whom English is not their first language. Gina loved to laugh and had a caring and giving nature all her life. She was dedicated to her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Guy Mogavero, her children; Anthony (Karen) Mogavero of Schenectady, Mary Anne (Michael) Mariotti of Rexford, and Laura (Kevin) O’Connor of Niskayuna, grandchildren; Anthony (Bridget) and Vincent Mogavero, Christina, Marisa and Nicole Mariotti, and Sarah O’Connor. She is also survived by her brother, Carlo Moruzzi, her sister, Theresa Herman, and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother, Victor Moruzzi, and her sister, Rita DiFalco. Calling hours will take place on Thursday, August 12 from 9am-10:30am at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Schenectady, NY 12306. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11am at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2777 Albany St. Schenectady, NY 12304. Burial will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna.
