Virginia F (Martinelli) Giorgio

Rotterdam - Virginia F. Giorgio, 95, of Rotterdam, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022. Born in Burnt Hills, Virginia was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Phillips Martinelli. She graduated from Draper High School in 1945 and also attended Union College. Virginia was a longtime, faithful member of St. Madeleine Sophie Church and its Rosary Society. She enjoyed interior design, music, gardening, reading and babysitting children. She also volunteered at election day as a poll worker. Above all else she was devoted to family and treasured time gathering for holidays, Sunday dinners and family celebrations. All who knew Virginia loved her kind nature. She is survived by her sons, Gary (Joann) Giorgio of Rotterdam, Gregory (Kate Provencher) Giorgio of Altamont and Michael (Emilia) Giorgio of Guilderland, her sister Rita Rambler and brother Phillip Martinelli. She was blessed with and is survived by five grandchildren: Nicholas Giorgio, Justin Giorgio, Briana Haluska (Steven), Vincent and Gabby Del Bene. Virginia had a special place in her heart for her nephews David Snyder, Brian Kilby and cousin, Heidi Schilling who survive her. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Virginia was predeceased by her beloved husband, Anthony Giorgio, who died in 2006, her brother Joseph Martinelli and sister Mary Snyder and brothers- in- law, Joseph, Thomas and Freddy Giorgio, Clark Snyder and Joseph Rambler, and sister-in-law, Rose Giorgio Candela. Virginia’s family would like to extend our deep appreciation and thanks to the Schenectady Center, particularly the nurses, aides and maintenance staff of the Willow unit. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at10 am at St. Madeleine Sophie Church, 3500 Carman Rd. Entombment will follow at Sts.Cyril and Method Cemetery. Out of care, respect and love for one another, masks are required inside the church. Those who wish to remember Virginia ina special way may make a memorial donation in her name to St. Madeleine Sophie Church or a charity of choice.
