Vincenzo C. Polsinelli, 82, of Rotterdam, passed away at home, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, May, 20, 2018 after a long illness. Born in Arpino, la province de Frosinone, Italy on January 3, 1936, he was the son of the late Domenico and Marianna Rae Polsinelli. Vince came to the United States in 1956, where he met and married his late wife Elizabeth Norma Polak on Oct. 18, 1958. Vince worked as a Mason after arriving in the United States and eventually owned and operated his own construction company for many years. He also worked for Roslund and Carpenter as well as Bast Hatfield as a Mason retiring at the age of 67. Vince also joined the Rotterdam Fire Department Dist. #2 in the mid 60’s and went exempt in 1996. He had many roles during his years at the fire Department including Truck Sergeant, Vice President of the Board of Directors and served 8 years as Fire Commissioner. Vince liked to work in his vegetable garden every year, which seemed to get bigger as the years went on. He loved to cook on the grill. He also loved to hunt and fish, raised rabbits and most of all enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up. Vince was predeceased by his wife of 32 years, Elizabeth, as well as four brothers; Gaetano, Antonio, Samuel and Johnny Polsinelli and his sister; Elena (Polsinelli) D’Orazio. Vince is survived by his four children; Dino (Maria) Polsinelli of Charleston, NY, Rosemarie (Rob) Perkett of Schenectady, Luisa Polsinelli of (Tim Shaft) of Round Lake and Dianne (Roger) Singleton of Springville, Utah. He is also survived by two brothers; Vito Polsinelli and Donato Polsinelli and his sister; Rita Calafiore, 13 grandchildren, including his granddaughter, and caregiver, Tia (David)Marx, 28 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 6-8 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Funeral services will begin on Friday morning, 9 am at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Glenville. The family would like to thank Hospice, the Nurses, Aids and all the family members that gave their all in the care of Vince in his hours of need. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, Community Hospice, 310 South Manning Blvd. Albany, NY 12208, the St. Peter’s Kidney Foundation, or donations may be made towards the funeral expenses to the funeral home. Our father and grandfather will always be missed and loved. Dad and Mom, rest in peace!
