Rotterdam – Vincenzo Di Costanzo, 81, passed away at home on Wednesday August 10, 2022 with his loving family by his side. Born in Caserta, Italy he was the son of Domenico and Angela (Cecere) Di Costanzo. A self-employed merchant in Italy, Vincenzo came to the United States with his wife and two young children in 1969. He then joined the Laborer’s International Union Local 190 retiring after 30 years of service. After retirement, Vincenzo enjoyed spending time watching soccer, playing cards, and playing bocce at the Italian club. He took his bocce seriously and he was quite a ringer at cornhole too. Everyone wanted him on their team. His Italian friends and family enjoyed reaping the rewards of his expert mushroom foraging. He loved to garden with Teresa and had a Neanderthal killer aim and ability to take out hungry garden rabbits with a single stone shot. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, especially our annual trips to the ocean with a baby in each arm. And as they grew older building impressive sand sculptures at the beach to their delight. Vincenzo will be remembered for time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and family in Italy. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Teresa Di Costanzo. His four children Domenico (Lisa) Di Costanzo, Angela (Bruno) Bianchi, Maria (Patrick) O’Connor and Lara (John) Carbine. Grandchildren Alessandra, Lorenzo, Nicolas, Noah, Brenna, Teresa, Vincenzo and Anna. He is also survived by his siblings Salvatore, Rafaele, Carmine and Anna. Along with his parents Vincenzo was predeceased by his brothers Pasquale, Antonio and Michele. Calling hours will be held Saturday from 8-10 am at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam followed by an 11 am Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Entombment will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
