Vincent C Martomoli

d. April 12, 2015

Vincent C.Martomoli, 94 of Niskayuna, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at Ellis Hospital. AWWII veteran, Vincent joined the US Army in 1942 and was honorably discharged in 1945. He was employed by the town of Niskayuna Highway Department for 25 years and retired in 1980. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 1092 in Niskayuna and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #88 and the Wounded Warrior Project. Our dad was a loving and kind person with, at times, a sarcastic edge to him, but with a smile on his face. He would laugh when he got this way. He loved us unconditionally and was always there for us our entire lives. He lent a caring ear to his friends and family, always helping them when he could. He especially looked over the care of his wife, Britta, his mother, Emily Morelli, and his siblings, Leah, Frank and Eugene through any sickness and care they needed. He was a devoted son and brother. He would groom and water the lawns at St. Cyril Cemetery and place flowers on the stones where his wife, Britta, and son Jimmy and brothers and mother were laid to rest, making sure all looked just right. On Sundays, for years and years, he would always enjoy making his spaghetti sauce with macaroni, meatballs and sausage and other Italian dishes. He also continued cooking his favorite dishes up to a year ago. Dad was an avid football fan, college and pro. He also began to enjoy watching golf. Our dad will be greatly missed by us, there will be an enormous void in our lives- he is in a much happier place. Vincent was predeceased by his wife Britta Seastrand Martomoli, who died in 1989, his son James V. Martomoli, who died in 1994, two brothers; Frank Cassadei and Eugene Cassadei, his sister; Leah Botterie, as well as parents, Emily and Michael Mortorullo. He is survived by three children; Paul M. (Donna McCreesh) Martomoli, Janet (Donald) Hopkins and Carol (Kirk) Bodenstab, all of Niskayuna and three grandsons, Justin(Ashley)Bodenstab, Christopher (Hannah) Bodenstab and Vincent Hopkins, two great grandchildren; James Manley and Nathaniel Bodenstab and cousins; Donald Buttiegliere of Florida and Levio of Schenectady as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be held on Saturday morning from 9-10:30 am at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am at the funeral home. Burial, with military honors, will be at St's Cyril & Method Cemetery in Rotterdam. Vincent's family would like to thank Dr. Kahn and the staff on E-2 at Ellis Hospital, as well as Dr. George Giokas and Angela Katrichis from Ellis Palliative Care for their compassion and care.
