Victoria "Theresa" (Spaziani) Alteri

Victoria “Theresa” Spaziani Alteri, 87, of Rotterdam, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Elmira, NY, Theresa was the youngest of nine children born to the late Ulisse and Victoria Oddi Spaziani. She graduated from Elmira free academy and was a factory worker for several years. After she married, Theresa moved to Schenectady and co- owned Canali’s Restaurant for many years. A devout catholic, Theresa attended daily Mass for many years. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking and gardening. She always had a deep love for family, especially her children and grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Theresa was also predeceased by her beloved husband, Henry Alteri Sr, who died in 2006, her daughter, Eileen Gardner, siblings and spouses; James (Marion) Spaziani, Henry (Helen) Spaziani, August Spaziani, Ulisse Spaziani Jr., Anna (Louis) Canali, Helen (Frank) Lisi and Lena (Alfonso) Rucci and brother in law Armondo Buonanno. She is survived by her children, Henry (Diane) Alteri Jr, Peter (Annmarie) Alteri and Robin Alteri, her son in law; Gary Gardner, sister Mary Buonanno, grandchildren; Anthony (Colleen) Alteri, Angela (Dan) Micalizzi, Adam Alteri, Daniel Alteri, VictoriaAlteri, Zachariah Alteri, and Veronica Alteri, great grandchildren; Isabella Micalizzi and Gabriella Micalizzi, her sisters in law; Emily Spaziani and Nellie Spaziani, Catherine (Guy) DeAngelis and brother In law Dominick Alteri, nieces; Lisa, Vicki, as well as many other nieces, nephews and cousins. A Calling hour will be held on Monday from 10 to 11 am at St. John the Evangelist Church, 806 Union St., followed at 11 am by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church. Burial will be private.
