Ursula K. Greiner

March 14, 1930 — October 12, 2023

Schenectady - Ursula K. Greiner died peacefully at home on Thursday, October 12th.  She was born on March 14, 1930, the daughter of the late Emil and Marie (Leier) Kanetzky. A lifelong resident of Schenectady, she graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy, Schenectady NY in 1948.

Ursula retired from New York State Tax and Finance in 1992, where she worked in the Bond Unit. She also worked for the Wallace Company and General Electric Aeronautical Division.  Ursula was a devout Catholic and a lifelong member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church of Schenectady. She was a social member of St. Elizabeth’s Auxiliary #93, of Knights of St. John.

Ursula enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends, as well as time in her gardens.  Her most treasured memories were with her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Ursula was predeceased by her husband of 53 years Richard E. Greiner, her two sons Richard E. Greiner, II and Matthew (Chris) Greiner and her sister, Helen K. Trawick.  She is survived by her sons, Edward E. Greiner (Kimberly) of Esperance, Andrew C. Greiner of Duanesburg, her daughter, Marie (Greiner) Borowski of Schenectady; her granddaughter, Jessica A. (Greiner) Slater, of Palm Bay, Florida, her grandsons, Michael P. Borowski, of Schenectady, Joseph C. Borowski, of Scarborough Maine and Justin Chaires of Schenectady, and great-grandson Jayden Chaires, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Funeral services will begin 9:15 am Monday at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Heldeberg Avenue, Schenectady, followed by a 10 am  Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Church in Schenectady (State St. and Lafayette St.) Calling hours will be Sunday from 3-6 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Kings Road, Schenectady.

Memorial contributions may be made in Ursula’s name to St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church Restoration Fund, 225 Lafayette St., Schenectady, New York 12305 and Capital Region Hospice, New Karner Road, Colonie, New York.
