Timothy J. Place

June 7, 1956 — January 31, 2025

SCHENECTADY - Timothy John Place, Rotterdam, NY. Passed peacefully on January 31, 2025 at the age of 68. Tim was born in Schenectady. After graduating from Colonie Central High School he was excited to serve his country by joining the US Navy where he served four years on the USS John F. Kennedy aircraft carrier as a machinist. After his honorable discharge, Tim was a long-haul trucker with his brother-in-law Lee. While trucking, one of their favorite songs to sing was Wolfcreek Pass by C. W. McCall.

En route he met Anne Nagengast, his "love at first sight". The were married during the famous October snowstorm of 1987. Following his trucking career, Tim was employed by Ryder for many years retiring in 2020.

The things that Tim enjoyed most were spending time with his buddies four wheeling, horseshoes, camping with his pride and joy 1959 Chevy pickup hauling the 'tow-mato.' He looked forward to PYX106 breakfast clubs especially the Halloween events, and primitive rendezvous.

He also enjoyed car shows and vacationing at the beach. Tim loved tinkering in the garage and did an impressive Elvis imitation. Tim and Anne hosted many NASCAR garage parties always ending with a spectacular burnout.

He was a long-time member of the Rotterdam Elks and a member of the Packard Automobile Club.

Tim is survived by his wife Anne, his mother Suzanne, sisters Suzanne (Lee) and Paula, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father Harvey and sister Dorothy.
