Thomas G. Delaney, 85, of Rotterdam, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Glendale Nursing Home. Born in Schenectady, Thomas was the son of the late Mark and Alice Marx Delaney. He graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1949 and served honorablywith the United States Air Force in Koreafrom 1952 to 1955. Thomas was employed as a Field Engineer with National Cash Register for 38 years, and retired in 1994. He was a longtime member of St. Madeleine Sophie Church in Guilderland. He enjoyed swimming, spending time with his grandchildren and building things, he was very handy. Thomas was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Elaine Delaney, who died in 2015. He is survived by his children; Thomas P. (Tracy) Delaney of Schenectady, Christopher P. (Ann) Delaney of Duanesburg, Teri (Robert) Shufelt of Harrisonburg, VA and Patricia Delaney of Rotterdam, his brothers Mark (Anna) Delaney of Hughsonville, NY and Donald Delaney of Perth, NY, his sister; Diane (Cyril) Krenzer of Lima, NY, 6 grandchildren; Joshua, Michael, Kelsey, Ryan, Patrick and Katelyn, 4 great grandchildren; Keegan, Trei, Chyse and Fenix, and Max, the dog. Calling hours will be Thursday evening from 5-7 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Funeral services will begin on Friday, 10:45 am from the funeral home, followed at 11:30 am by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Madeleine Sophie Church, 3500 Carman Rd. in Guilderland. Burial, with military honors, will be at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY. Thomas’s family would like to thank the staff at the Glendale Nursing Home, Union Station for the caring help and attention during his time there.
