ROTTERDAM JUNCTION - Thomas J. Commarto passed away on Wednesday February 5, 2025 in the comfort of his home surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Schenectady to the late James and Mary Commarto. Graduating from Mont Pleasant, he then joined the Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam Era. After he was honorably discharged, he worked at his father’s store, James Appliances, before owning and operating Sunny’s Appliances. Tom enjoyed traveling the world and riding his Harley Davidson, he also enjoyed boating and snowmobiling. He was predeceased by his brother, Samuel Commarto.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Colleen; sister Nancy (Pete) Mienaltowski; children, James Commarto, Tallie Christopher, Tom (Ashley) Commarto Jr.; step daughter, Samantha Allen; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like a special thank you to the VA Hospital, especially Dr Medi and Dr. Des Mesropian, and to Erin from hospice.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday February 12th from 10am to 12pm at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam, followed by a service at 12pm. He will then be interred with Military Honors at Saratoga National Cemetery. To continue Tom and Collen’s love for animals, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any animal shelter or rescue group. Condolences can be posted at demarcostonefuneralhome.com.
