Thomas Harold Carr, 66, of Rotterdam, passed away peacefully on Tuesday July 22, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Troy, NY, on February 3, 1959, Tom was the son of the late Donald Bryce Carr and Pauline Diehl Carr. He graduated from Shaker High School in 1977 and married the love of his life, Sheila Articolo Carr, in 1982. Together they shared 43 years of marriage, building a loving family and a beautiful life in Rotterdam.
Tom worked as a Parts Manager at Colonie Truck Sales and later as a Parts and Service Manager at FGMC Quality Garage in Schdy. He went on to start his own successful business, Tom’s Sealcoating, before retiring from the Town of Rotterdam Highway Department.
A true problem-solver, Tom could fix or figure out any challenge. His family often said, “If Tom couldn’t fix it, it was truly broken.” He was always the first to lend a hand and never said no to someone in need. Tom especially loved his time at the family camp on Sacandaga Lake, a cherished retreat he built for his grandchildren. He also enjoyed traveling—favorites included Cape Cod, Alexandria Bay, and indulging in all-you-can-eat crab legs in Myrtle Beach.
Tom is survived by his wife, Sheila Articolo Carr; his son Kevin (Rebecca) Carr; and his cherished grandchildren: Madelynn Carr, Kaylee Carr, and Camden Carr. He also leaves behind his stepdaughter Sally Hogan and her son Ethan Hogan; his siblings Pam Carr Smith (Dennis), Jerry Carr (Catina), and Charles Carr; as well as many extended family members and friends.
He will be remembered for his generous spirit, hardworking nature, and the deep love he had for his family and community.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday July 29th from 4 to 7pm at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam.
