Schenectady, NY. Theresa Ann “Terri” Barnell, 82, passed away on March 25, 2025. She was the daughter of William and Dorothy Mikolaitis and the beloved wife of Gerald M. “Jerry” Barnell. The couple resided on Dolan Drive in Rotterdam and purchased one of the first homes in the Gallucci Gardens development. Terri grew up in Fort Johnson, NY and was an excellent student, graduating 7th in her class from Amsterdam High School. She earned a Bachelor’s degree at Buffalo State which she used in her early vocation as a Speech Therapist in schools, first in Medina and last at Schalmont school in Rotterdam. Although she had met Jerry at Amsterdam High, it wasn’t until college that their romance bloomed while he was attending nearby Niagara University. They married in June of 1964. In addition to Schalmont, they both worked for Plumb Realty. Terri had a passion for golf, trivia, and witty conversation. She had an unbounded thirst for information and was always seeking to find out which was best or what was most preferred. She kept caregivers and visitors alike on their toes with her wit and revelatory observations. She is survived by her husband – the love of her life – Jerry, as well as her longtime friend Deborah Bedford (Bill), many cousins, extended family and friends and numerous caregivers over the years who have become like family. Friends and Family are invited to remember and celebrate Terri at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave, in Rotterdam from 10:30 AM – Noon on Monday March 31. Donations in her name may be made to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Ave, Glenville, NY 12302.
