Sylvia J (Boss) Smith

Queensbury – Sylvia J. Smith, 85, passed away on Saturday, August 11th, 2018 at Glens Falls Hospital. Born in Schenectady, Sylvia was the daughter of the late Marion Boss and Jean (White) Boss. Sylvia graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and worked for many years as a typist at the NYS Department of Taxation in Albany, NY. Sylvia is predeceased by her husband, Edward R. Smith, one daughter, Coleen Smith, her siblings, Thomas Boss and Dolores Bates and her longtime companion, Raymond Tanis. She leaves behind her daughter, Christine A. Ciancetta, her grandchildren, Erin Ciancetta, Jesse Ciancetta (Barbara) and Dylan Smith (Krystle), her great grandchildren, Victoria, Adrianna, Dominic, Layla and Jordan as well as several nieces and nephews. A calling hour will be held on Friday, from 10:30-11:30am at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue in Rotterdam. Interment will be private.
