Sylvia Ruth Bonfey

Schenectady, NY-Sylvia Ruth Bonfey, age 79, a lifelong Schenectady resident passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Friday morning, January 8, 2016 in the presence of her loving family. She was born in Schenectady, on December 13, 1936, daughter of the late David B. and Ruth M. (Cory) Seastrand and graduated from Schenectady schools.She was united in marriage with Thomas Bonfey with whom she celebrated a blessed union of nearly 50 years until his passing in 2005.She was last employed with Price Chopper Supermarket. Mrs. Bonfey was a devoted and caring wife, mother, sister and grandmother.In her leisure time, she enjoyed reading and jigsaw puzzles.Sylvia alwaysloved being outdoors, especially camping at Gilbert lake.Her most pleasurable moments were spent with her grandchildren. Survivors include her devoted family; her daughters, Darcee Parkis and husband Billy of Schenectady, Linda Burdick and husband Douglas of Rotterdam, and Sharon Henges and husband Roger of Schenectady; a brother, Leland Seastrand of Schenectady; grandchildren, Erica, Thomas, Sara, and great grandchildren, Micalya, Kiley, Jayvona and Jaiden. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and cousins and in laws, Charles and Sally, Donald and Leane and Nancy and Sim. The family will be present at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam to receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 from 5-8 p.m.The funeral will commence at 10 am on Wed., Jan 13th from the chapel of the funeral home.Funeral procession will follow to Memory Gardens Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband.
