Susan A. (Baldiga) D’Amico
July 22, 1943 – September 28, 2025
Susan A. D’Amico, 82, of Rotterdam passed peacefully into eternal rest the morning of September 28, 2025, at Phelps Hospital in Sleepy Hollow, NY, surrounded by her loving family. The daughter of August and Kathryn (Okonis) Baldiga, Susan was born in Schenectady, NY and was a 1961 graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. She loved her high school years, treasuring the many lifelong friendships she formed, and took great pride in being part of her school’s Majorette program.
Susan was known for her strong work ethic and dedication throughout her career. She held many roles over the years, including secretary to the principal at Draper Elementary School, clerk at the Schenectady County Department of Motor Vehicles, and ultimately assistant to the county clerk at the Schenectady County Clerk’s Office, where she faithfully served for many years before retiring in 1999.
Susan highly valued her family, friends, and home life. She loved creating a warm and welcoming space where holidays and special occasions were filled with food, laughter, and joy. An excellent cook and hostess, she especially treasured gathering her family for Sunday dinners. One of her favorite places was Siesta Key, Florida, where she and her husband returned year after year to relax and enjoy its beauty together. She also delighted in watching classic cinema, cheering for the New York Yankees, visiting the casino, and sharing a good glass of wine. Her greatest happiness came from her children and grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Affectionately known as “Grandma Sue,” she was a constant source of love and support for her grandchildren—taking them to the library, cheering from the sidelines at sporting events, and showing up for school activities. She was also the life of the party, with a contagious laugh and a love of dancing that lit up every room. She will be remembered not only for her kindness and compassion, but also for the joy, warmth, and energy she brought to everyone around her.
She is survived by her beloved husband, John C. D’Amico; her children, Richard Korkosz, Victoria Korkosz Marino, and Denise D’Amico; her brother, Lawrence Baldiga (Linda); and her cherished grandchildren, Gabriella Marino Bellandi (Benjamin), Alexandra Marino, and Olivia Marino, along with their father, Louis Marino. She was predeceased by her sister, Sandra Baldiga Petrokus; brother-in-law, James Petrokus; brother-in-law, Lewis Marra; and sister-in-law, Angie Marra. Susan is lovingly remembered by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
