Stanley Staroba, 96, passed away on Friday, October 7th, 2016 at Ellis Hospital with his loving daughters, Gloria and Gail at his side. Born in Schenectady on November 11th, 1919, he was the son of the late Anthony and Mary Staroba. Stanley worked for Wroblewski Heating, Larry’s Printing, D&H Railroad and retired in 1982 from the General Electric Company. Stanley served in WWII in the Army Air Force serving from 1942 to 1945. Stanley was a member of American Legion Post 1005 and a lifetime member of VFW 1895. Stanley started tinkering with watches and clocks during WWII for fellow servicemen. That passion continued at home for people and his vast knowledge enabled him to fix anything from furnaces to cars, offering advice or lending a hand. He was always there to help anyone in need. Stanley was predeceased by his mother and father, Anthony and Mary, brothers, Charles (Emily), William (Evelyn) and Edward (Cecilia). He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Elizabeth (Tymchyn) Staroba, daughters, Gloria Friello (Richard) of Glenville, Gail Coutant (Steven Walker) of Rotterdam and his loving granddaughter, Jenna Coutant Walker as well as many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Wednesday, October 12th, from 6-8pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam, NY 12306. A service will be held Thursday at 10am at the funeral home, followed by interment at St. Cyril’s Cemetery on Duanesburg Rd. in Rotterdam.
