Rotterdam - Shirley Marie Slingerland, 60, died peacefully October 28th, 2018, at Albany Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. Shirley was a graduate of Linton High School class of 1975 and was employed by Mohonasen School District for 20 years and retired in 2010. Shirley was actively involved with the Albany Schenectady Harley Owners Group and was a member of many organizations helping those in need. Shirley loved her time with her children, and when she wasn’t with them, she enjoyed traveling, baking cookies, and spending time with friends. She was a frequent visitor of Hampton Beach, Michigan, and Lake George, among many other places. Shirley is survived by her husband, Raymond D. Slingerland, son Brian (Ruth) Zuhlke of Waterford, NY, daughter, Danielle (Patrick) Thompson of Oxford, Michigan, her brother, Robert Wagoner of Glenville, sister-in-law Shirley Unser of Slingerlands, NY, her cousin and partner in crime Dawn Neal of Guilderland and her “Grandpuppy” Senna. Shirley is predeceased by her parents, Roland and Geraldine (Kazyaka) Wagoner and one sister, Nancy Burke. A visitation will take placeon Thursday from 4pm to 6pmat DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home,1605 Helderberg Avenue in Rotterdamwith services followingat 6pm. The family has requested for a private ceremony where Shirley’s ashes will be placed in the mausoleum at SchenectadyMemorial Park, Rotterdam.
