Shirley J. Mullarkey passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, October 18, 2018. Born December 4, 1935 to the late Alexander and Sally Zielinski in Schenectady, NY. Shirley was educated in Schenectady schools and was a graduate of Nott Terrace High in 1954. She was formerly employed as a secretary at various offices and a waitress at the Van Dyck Restaurant. Most recently, she retired from BJ’s WholesaleClub, Rotterdam in 2003. She married her late husband, John, on January 28, 1956. She is survived by her sisters; Constance Zebrowski and Lorraine Zorichak (Donald) and her brother Alexander Zielinski all of Schenectady. She is the loving mother of Michelle (Carl) Woodbeck and Michael Mullarkey (Cynthia), Grandmother of Donald Clough, Jr., Carl Woodbeck, Jr., and Nathan Woodbeck, Kaitlin and Meghan Mullarkey, Great-Grandmother of TeaganWatkins. She was predeceased by her husband John E., on August 24, 1999, they were married for 43 years. She is predeceased by her brother, Anthony Zielinski, and brother-in-law Edwin Zebrowski. Shirley loved people. She was predeceased by her cherished friend Donald Chevalier who was always by her side and caring for each other. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 23 from 9:00-11:00am at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Schenectady, NY 12306 with a service immediately following at the funeral home at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. The family wishes that any donations be made to the Community Hospice Foundation 310 S. Manning Blvd. Albany, NY 12208.
