Shirley B. Laremore, 89, of Guilderland, Our Lady of Mercy Life Center's longest resident, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2015. Born in Albany, Shirley was a graduate of Albany High School. She worked as a Comptometer Operator for the NYS Dept. of Taxation and Finance in Albany. Shirley loved spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, and was the tour director for the Guilderland Chapter 980 of the AARP for several years.She enjoyed gardening and took pride in her flower gardens. She also loved watching the animals around her home. She was an avid birdwatcher, red cardinals being her favorite bird.Shirley was a longtime Red Cross volunteer, worked as coordinator for the Town of Guilderland Bloodmobile, was a 4-H leader for 10 years in the 1970's, volunteered with the Widowed Persons Services of the Capital District, and also served as trustee, elder and finance secretary for the Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church. Shirley was predeceased by her beloved husband, William H. Laremore, who died in 1984, her daughter, Deborah L. Osborne, who died in 2002, her parents; Alfred A. and Dorothea Selke Busch, brother; Alfred R. Busch and brother in law, Paul House. She is survived by "her prized possessions", three children; Douglas A. (Tania) Laremore of Pennsylvania,and his son William,Barbara J. (John) Carboni of Colonie and her sons,Christopher and Nicholas, Nancy G. Gerstenberger of Guilderland and her children, Jason and Diana (Matt) Ceballos,one brother; EdwinA. (Laura) Busch of Churchville, MD. , her sister;Joan D. House of Delmar, sons in law; Kurt Gerstenberger and John Osborne,as well as nieces, nephews,step- grandchildren and step great- grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday from 4-7 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 5216 Western Turnpike (Rt. 20) in Guilderland. Funeral services will begin on Saturday, 10 am at the Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church, 2291Western Ave. in Guilderland. Burial will follow the services at Bethlehem Cemetery in Elsmere, NY. Shirley's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all the staff members at Our Lady of Mercy, and especially to Richard, her long time aid, for the care and friendship they all gave her during her 16 years at the Nursing Center. Memorial donations may be made in Shirley's memory to the Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church, 2291Western Ave. Guilderland, NY, 12084.
