Shirley (Paull) Ambesi

Schenectady - Shirley Jean Ambesi, 85, passed peacefully on Wednesday, February 16, 2022. Shirley was born in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Arthur Paull and Matilda Van Valkenburg Paull. She graduated from Draper High School in 1954 and received her Nursing degree from the former Ellis School of Nursing. Soon after graduation, she began working at St. Clare’s Hospital where she was employed for many years and held her position as Team Leader of the critical care unit until her retirement. Shirley was an active member of the Sacandaga Boating Club, she so loved spending time at Sacandaga with friends and family over the years. She was also an avid NY Giants fan. In addition to her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her beloved husband, Anthony Ambesi, who died in 2011, her brother, Joseph Paull and sister, Sandra Marshall. She is survived by her three sons, Michael (Brenda) Ambesi, Theodore (Kim) Ambesi and Anthony (Johneen) Ambesi, all of Rotterdam, her sister, Marion Goodness of Schenectady, seven grandchildren, Michelle Weinberg (Robert), Kyle Ambesi (Kayla), Briana Lawler (Cody), Caitlin Ambesi, Michael Ambesi, Nicole Ambesi and Lauren Ambesi as well as her six great grandchildren. Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 21, 2022 from 4-6 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home at 6 pm.
