ROTTERDAM - Shelia McMullen (also known as Sha by her friends) passed away peacefully on Saturday May 24, 2025 at home after a brief illness. Born in Bradshaw, West Virginia on July 5, 1941 to the late Glaspy and Pearl (Chadwell) Kennedy. She graduated from Iaeger High School. She then went to work for the Chesapeake and Potomac Phone Co. in Washington D.C. It was there that she met her future husband Ed McMullen on a blind date. That developed into a 65 year marriage. After Ed finished his time in the USAF they moved back to Schenectady. She raised her two daughters and then returned to the working world. She worked at Mohonasen School for a time, and then went to work at Time Warner Cablevision as a customer service rep. until her retirement. She enjoyed camping, card making, rubber stamping, and Syracuse Basketball. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Eugene Kennedy, Ronald Kennedy, and Gwyn Kennedy.
Shelia is survived by her husband, Edward McMullen; daughters, Deborah McMullen and Kelly (Howard) Raver; her granddaughters, Holly (Jeremiah) Stuart and Emily (Vignesh) Vittal; and her great-granddaughter, Madeline Stuart; and dear family friend, Paul Neubauer.
Calling hours will be held on Friday May 30th from 11am to 1pm at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam, followed by a funeral service at 1pm. She will then be interred in Prospect Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and/or to the American Heart Association.
