Rotterdam – Sergeant First Class Pietro Bucci, 83, passed away on Tuesday, July 27th, 2021 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center after a brief illness. Born in Alife, Province of Caserta, Italy, Pietro was the son of the late Federico and Addolorata (Pietroccione) Bucci. He immigrated to the United States at the age of 17. Once arriving in the US, Pietro worked at DeLuke Redi Mix as a mechanic for 15 years. He then took his skills and began a 41 year career with the Army National Guard where he excelled as an auto mechanic and technician. Devoted to his faith, Pietro was a longtime member and Eucharistic minister at St. Paul the Apostle Church. In his earlier years, he was an avid bowler with several local leagues and was a member of the Guan Ho Ha Gun Club. He was a man deeply dedicated to his family. His greatest gift was his kindness which was felt by all who came in contact with him. Left behind to cherish his memory are his 2 daughters, Theresa (Steven) Jones and Christine Bucci; 3 grandchildren, Staff Sergeants Breanna (Tyler) Center, Helena Jones and Stephenie Jones; his siblings, Felicia (Paul) DeMarco, Mary (John) Carracciolo, Joann (Maurizio) Capobianco and Anna (Tony) Zarrillo as well as many nieces and nephews. Pietro was predeceased by his beloved wife Sandra (Palmer) Bucci, whom he married on July 2nd, 1961 and one brother-in-law, Marco Carracciolo. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, from 2-4pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Services will begin on Monday morning at 10:15am at the funeral home, followed at 11am by a funeral mass at St. John the Evangelist Church, Union St., Schenectady. Burial with military honors will be at Memory Gardens.
